Tether has announced the establishment of an AI-focused unit and commenced recruitment efforts to bolster its team, the company announced Tuesday. The unit aims to pioneer open-source AI models and collaborate with industry partners to tackle real-world challenges.
In addition to this initiative, Tether has initiated a talent search, seeking professionals for key roles including Head of AI Research and Development, and AI Engineer positions. With a market-leading stablecoin, USDT, valued at $105 billion, Tether's foray into AI signifies a strategic expansion beyond its core offerings.
The division will "redefine AI boundaries and democratize privacy-preserving open AI technology," CEO Paolo Ardoino said in the announcement.
This move builds upon Tether's AI strategy, which saw its inception last year with an investment in Northern Data (NB2), a company transitioning from crypto mining to providing computing power for AI-driven data analysis.
