South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSICT) has set up Metaverse Academy to train Web3 developers and creators.

The academy targets youths in their 20s and early 30s who are looking to start a career in the emerging field. A total of 210 students were selected in the current program, which begins this month until December.

In addition to lectures related to the metaverse, the MSICT will provide necessary equipment, workspace and even training fund to each student. Outstanding students will be offered job opportunities or financial support when starting a business at the end of the program.

The Metaverse Academy is part of the government initiative to grow the Web3 industry and foster relevant specialists. In April, the MSICT announced that it plans to invest KRW 17.9 billion (US$14.6 million) in small and medium-sized companies specializing in the metaverse.
